Our Van is Dead

Bummed out. Jason and I went out to the van this morning and it was dead. Didn't start at all.

So we tried to jump it. No luck.

Sad.
Our mechanic has our van now and we will know on Monday our total cost. I'm glad our insurance covers towing by 100%. If only they could pick up the repair cost as well.

Ugh. Not a fun way to start a weekend. Hope it's an easy fix!

Batteries go bad and don't hold charges after a while. Or the starter goes out. Or the alternator goes out, but you should still be able to jump a battery if it's just the alternator. It could be a combination of them all. Lucky you. -Jess

Did you find out what was wrong with the car? I hate dead cars! Such a sad, sad thing to happen. I hope it won't be too expensive to get it running again.

Our battery needs replacd $110

There was water in our front left headlight. So the headlight assembly needs replaced $278

Light bulb in the left front headlight $12

I asked them to do a temporary fix of that headlight, meaning I don't want to pay the $278. So I asked if they could drill a small hole to let the water escape so that it wouldn't build up in there.

They said yes they could do a temporary fix of some sort. Since we get the labor for free from Toyota since they should have caught these problems last Monday in our oil change (they said they'd do all the labor for free)

So our total bill will be $122 plus tax. A huge relief compared to what I was dreading.

I knew that starter was okay but I was afraid that it might have been the alternator. I was very relieved that it was just the battery.
