Pictures from Ohio
A few months ago I had this grand idea that doing a marathon would be a good idea. Ha, what was I thinking? I'm really not sure. Either way I knew it would be my first and most likely my only marathon so Jason and I planned a family trip around it. The marathon was in Dayton, Ohio and since my parents live just an hour away from there we made sure we went to Grove City as well.
Day 1: We got up at 4:30a.m. packed the van, got the children up shortly after that and then headed to Ohio. We arrived there at around 2p.m. and went straight to Wright State University Nutter Center to pick up my race packet and check out the running expo. Next stop Grove City, Ohio to visit my parents.
My sister, her husband and two children had traveled from Washington D.C. so we got to see them too! We had a very awesome dinner and then Caleb and I headed to the hotel to sleep. Caleb went because he is massively/deathly allergic to cats and my parents have two cats so staying there wasn't an option for Caleb. I went so I could have a night away from all noise and get a good nights sleep two nights before the marathon because I heard that is the night that counts for sleep. Caleb and I arrived in Dayton at the hotel at around 9:20p.m. which was perfect because we were able to get all checked in and I was able to hit the hot tub before it closed at 10p.m.
Day 2: I slept in for the first time in months. I think I actually slept till 7:30a.m. Awesome. Then Caleb and I went to get breakfast and then went back to bed till around 10 or 11a.m.
Around 2p.m. or so Jason and the most of the children showed up. We spent the day swimming and doing absolutely nothing.
Around 8p.m. my parents showed up with Daniel and Brenden. We all hung out and talked.
I tried to go to bed at around 9:30p.m but never really went to sleep till around 11p.m. or so since I was thinking about the race too much.
Day 3: I woke at 4:15a.m. The alarm was set for 4:45a.m., but seriously who needs an alarm to wake up when it is their first marathon, your body will get you up several times in the night. I showered and prepared for the race. Around 5:20a.m. we all left for the race to get decent parking. At 7:30a.m. the race started.
The rest of the day was spent with family and we took lots of family pictures. I have a few posted below from my cheap camera. My sister brought an amazing really nice camera and has pictures of the entire group which I can't wait to see. I will post all her pictures as soon as I get them.
Day 4: We all got up and had another amazingly huge breakfast at the Drury Inn and then we went to church in Dayton at Adrianne Richard's old ward. Then we came back to the hotel, packed up all our stuff and left for Ohio. We all arrived home by 7:30p.m.

40th Birthday
My friend Tracy along with my husband Jason had a bright idea to throw me a surprise party. It turned out really nice. Tracy went all out with decorations, huge cake, games for adults and children, tons and tons of food, bonfire with smores and to top off the great night fireworks. I've never had fireworks on my birthday so that was awesome.
Here are a few pictures from the party and then a couple days later was my actual birthday so there are those pictures too.
Holding a gift I received from Tracy, Rhoni Jo and Stephany. It is a race medal holder. It says "I did it" on it. Super cool. |
The super yummy cake. |
Jason giving me the cake. |
Me with my girlfriends showing off our fabulous runner legs. From Left to Right: Allison, Stephany, Me, Rhoni Jo, Tracy. |
At home on my birthday I received my favorite peanut butter pie. |
This is me now at 40 years old. |
Brenden's 15th birthday
Brenden turned 15 in August and we didn't miss his birthday, we just didn't post anything about his birthday. The same day his Aunt had a baby so it's a very exciting day in the Clark family. Brenden wanted an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen so that is what he received.
He asked for only a few things, headphones (which he is holding below) a gift card to Target and an I-Tunes gift card.
The years have gone fast and I can't believe he is already a sophomore in high school and 15.
