A fun Saturday

We had a great Saturday.  It started out with a family race in Cedar Rapids, Iowa called Muddy Monster.  I posted about that race and have lots of pictures to share on my other blog, just click on MUDDY MONSTER to read all about it.  Then we came home and did a bunch of work around the house inside and out.  We have a ton of leaves to get to the street so the street vacuums can suck them up Monday morning.

Then we left to go to a pumpkin farm.  Jason remembered one South of town that we hadn't been to in years.  I was pretty sure it was closed.  It was closed.  So we drove around looking for another one, then ended up at a local grocery store and bought pumpkins.  Bummer.

After that we had the joy of watching my friend's 4 children.  They have a four year old daughter and triplets age 16 months.  Here are some pictures from our fun night.

They were so adorable eating their peas for dinner. The baby with the green sippy cup would smash each pea one at a time. The other two babies scooped up the peas as fast as they could shovel them in.  Notice how they are all in a special triplet table.  Their parents brought the table to our house to make it easier for us to feed them all at once.  I thought it was funny that the triplets come with furniture when you get the oppportunity to watch them.  But I admit that having that table made feeding them super easy and fun!

I noticed for most of the pictures, the little girl would lean in slightly as if she was posing for the picture.  In this picture they had just had some pineapple and ham pizza.  Between the three of them they ate over 2 cups of peas, a bunch of black olives, 1 apple, 1 banana, and 3 slices of pizza.  Oh and a couple cookies that Alyssa made.

This is a picture of the triplets four year old sister.  She is so smart and fun to be around.  I love this picture because Jared loves these children as if they were his own siblings, and had to make a funny face and be in the picture also.  She started laughing hysterically.

Here is a picture of just the older sister.  She is a great eater of vegetables as well, she at an entire bowl of peas and then asked for more.

After dinner we all watched part of the kid's movie "Despicable Me" and the 4 year old got to go on a walk with our dog Abby with Jared and Brenden.

Scott was thrilled to have our friend's children here at our house because he asks me almost daily when they are coming over again so we can watch them. They would be so fun to have as neighbors next door.

Brenden's stitched up head

Last week I received phone call from the West High health office saying, "We need you to come pick up Brenden, he fell and MAY need stitches."

Jason and I went to get him together, then Jason dropped me off at work and then Jason took him to the hospital to see one of his surgeon friends who said he'd stitch him up if needed.

When the doctor and Jason started looking at the wound they realized it was very deep. The cut was all the way to the skull. After the doctor cleaned the wound out for a very long time he began to stitch him up, but had to do a layer of stitches in the muscle layer underneath the skin since the wound was so deep. Then Brenden had stitches that you can see on top of his head, then staples. He was sore for a couple days. My pictures of his head aren't great because when I tried to get a close up, then it was blurry.

Just Smile

I asked my children to each put a white shirt, go outside and then smile for a picture. I told them if they would just smile for the first picture I wouldn't take anymore. You can see how well that went.

It is beyond my comprehension why they can't just behave for 5 minutes? I guess when you have four almost five teens in the house you have complete craziness most of the time.

This is a great shot I got of just Alyssa, however her brothers were messing with her.
